Screening for Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Some sexually acquired infections may involve troubling and worrying discharge, pain, bleeding, ulcers and in some cases subsequent fertility or long term health concerns. Unfortunately, in many cases, these infections may also be silent and invisible and could be potentially causing problems without any symptoms at all.

Screening for sexually transmitted diseases is straightforward and involves a blood test and some swabs, both done in one visit here in the surgery. These infections can include Chlamydia, Gonnorrhea, Herpes Virus, Genital Warts/ Human Papilloma Virus, Thrush/ Candida, HIV, Hepatitis B or C amongst others.

Screening tests and examinations often detect silent infections and guide treatment options to often distressing and very personal symptoms. Male or Female GPs are available to offer screening, detection, treatment and appropriate follow up of these illnesses in an absolute confidential capacity.
